This Landsknecht Dagger captures the bold and practical look of the weapons carried by German mercenary soldiers of the Renaissance. Compact, sturdy, and full of period character, it is based on a historical example from Solingen, Germany, a city long associated with fine blade making.

The dagger features a stiff, narrow blade forged from tempered C60 high carbon steel. Its unsharpened edge makes it well suited for collection, reenactment, and display, while the blade profile reflects the original fighting purpose of a dagger designed for close combat. The wide S-shaped guard offers more hand protection than many simpler dagger designs, making it especially fitting as a companion weapon to a Katzbalger sword.

The guard and pommel are crafted from blackened steel, giving the dagger a dark, rugged appearance. The grip is carved from wood and accented with brass details for a striking Renaissance look. The included scabbard is made from thick leather and finished with blued steel fittings, brass accents, and brass hanging rings so the dagger can be worn as part of a historical outfit or displayed with your collection.

Please Note: It is common for the blued steel scabbard fittings to show a combination of dried brown oil and light surface rust. A careful wipedown with WD-40 or Windlass Rust Blocker can remove much of this residue. Metal polish may also be used with care, but some polishes contain abrasives that can reduce or remove the blued finish.

The Landsknechts were German-speaking mercenary soldiers who became famous across Europe during the late 15th and 16th centuries. Known for their dramatic clothing, battlefield skill, and distinctive weapons, they often carried short sidearms in addition to polearms, two-handed swords, or the iconic Katzbalger sword.

Daggers like this served as practical backup weapons in the chaos of close combat. Their compact size made them easy to carry, while a stiff blade could be used in tight quarters where longer weapons were less effective. The S-guard and bold hilt styling reflect the flamboyant, martial character associated with Landsknecht arms and armor.

This reproduction is inspired by a historical Solingen example, connecting it to one of Germany’s most important blade-making centers.

The Deepeeka Landsknecht Dagger is a distinctive German Renaissance sidearm with the bold styling and practical construction expected of a mercenary’s backup weapon. With its C60 high carbon steel blade, blackened steel fittings, carved wood grip, brass accents, and leather scabbard, it is a strong choice for Landsknecht reenactors, Katzbalger owners, Renaissance collectors, and historical weapon displays.
